Overview & Highlights

Nestled in the heart of Kampung Seri Lalang, Sharlia Seafood Restaurant is a true gem for seafood lovers craving authentic Malay and Thai flavors. This unassuming spot on Jalan Makam Lot 566 in Mersing, Johor Darul Ta'zim, offers an inviting dining experience that perfectly balances freshness, tradition, and warmth.

The culinary journey here is a vibrant celebration of the sea’s freshest catches paired with rich, bold Malaysian and Thai spices. Diners rave about signature dishes like the succulent siakap bakar—grilled sea bass that boasts a smoky char while remaining tender and juicy inside. The grilled cockles sambal provide a delightful spicy kick, perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness. The pari asam pedas (stingray in a tangy and spicy tamarind sauce) bursts with an intoxicating blend of sour and spicy that lingers beautifully on the palate.

Complementing the seafood are classic Malaysian side dishes such as kangkong belacan (water spinach sautéed with fermented shrimp paste), and the comforting telor dadar (classic omelette) which together create a homely and satisfying meal. For an extra burst of freshness, the kerabu mangga (spicy mango salad) and kerabu ayam (chicken salad) bring vibrant textures and flavor contrasts — sharp, spicy, and aromatic.

Many guests savor the rich, aromatic tomyam soup, which adds a fragrant layer of spice, complexity, and warmth, making every spoonful an experience of contrasting flavors harmonizing effortlessly. Drinks here are thoughtfully prepared — never overly sweet — providing just the right refreshment amid rich and spicy fare.

The atmosphere at Sharlia Seafood Restaurant is unpretentious yet welcoming. Despite its humble, old-school appearance, the place is spotlessly clean and staffed by friendly service professionals who consistently impress with their efficiency and attention — including the owner himself, who takes pride in ensuring customer satisfaction down to the smallest detail. This earnest commitment to service creates a comfortable space to relax and savor every bite.

What truly stands out is the consistent quality and value. Guests remark on how each dish is “so sedappp,” a Malaysian expression perfectly capturing the intense satisfaction and craving that the food inspires. The reasonableness of prices, especially when compared to nearby beachside eateries, makes Sharlia Seafood Restaurant an unbeatable destination for both locals and travelers longingly chasing authentic flavors without compromise.

In summary, Sharlia Seafood Restaurant is a culinary haven where fresh, boldly flavored seafood meets heartfelt hospitality. Whether you're enjoying a laid-back lunch with grilled fish and sambal cockles or a dinner overflowing with kerabu salads and tomyam, every dish feels like a lovingly crafted testament to Malaysia’s rich coastal cuisine.

Highly recommended for anyone eager to indulge in a genuine seafood feast that delights the senses and warms the soul.

Malay & Thai Cuisine. No Western ok Will try to come again to taste other dishes..

Everything here is W. Here’s why: They provided very fast services, the staffs were very welcoming (ngl we were stunned of their efficiency because the food was served fast and hot), the food was phenomenal because every bite is packed with flavours (honourable mention: kerabu telur masin is the bomb) and so on. We even added one more plate of white rice to savour the aromatic tomyam soup and they’re very generous with the serving portion. I kid you not it’s very worth it to dine in here. Thank you for the delicious and scrumptious meals. We truly enjoyed it! May the business will keep on prosper!

Restaurant looks old but service was fast & food was delicious.. Went here twice. September 2023 & today CNY3 2024..

SO GOOD. All the dishes were a hit even the salted egg!

Been to dinner in this restaurant 3 times and surprisingly the service is consistent. The service is fast, the food is good and the price is not too expensive unlike like the rest of restaurants around the beach area during night time. One time the server forgot the special sauce for my fried rice and the owner himself sent me the sauce and apologized to me. For me that's a class customer service especially for a Malay restaurant standard. Oh, and there's also a QR Payment which I always use to pay for my food.

Food was good, ordered medium set and everything is so shedap! We also add on kerabu telur masin and it was perfect. They deserved a high rating for their food and efficient service!
